Decker, MB as manager of the Lumber Company. While in Decker our daughter, Sharon, was born on Febrnary 25, 1960 at Hamiota Hospital. Later that same year we moved to Brandon, and while there AI was employed by McLeods Ltd. and was transferred to Virden. While we lived in Virden, Josie was employed by Murdock Bakery. In 1973 we moved back to Brandon and AI was hired by Canadian Tire. He has been employed with them for 27 years. Josie was employed by Wayfare Restaurant as head cashier for 11 years and later worked at Patmore Nursery. We are both retired now and hope to continue to travel - which we both enjoy very much.

Our children are:

Curtis, who is employed as Assistant Supervisor at Petro Canada. His two children are Paige and Jesse. They reside in Brandon. Sharon married Craig Forsyth on May 24, 1980. They have two children, Amber and Chase. Sharon is Supervisor of Customer Services at Super Store and Craig is manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia. They reside in Edmonton.


Living in Erickson, Bert and Gudrnn were active III community affairs, especially in the Erickson Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Lutheran Church. Their retirement years were spent in Brandon. Bert suffered a stroke in 1985 and took up residence at Hillcrest Place in Brandon. Gudrnn then moved to Princess Apartments and resided there until her health deteriorated. Gudrnn passed away in December 1994.

Their family includes a son, Alvin, married to Josephine Rudniski and they live in Brandon; daughters, Bernice, who lives in Ottawa; Vivian married Reg Shortt and they live in Mississauga. Bert and Gudrnn raised an infant niece, Emilie (Holmberg) as their daughter. Emilie married Don Cale and they reside in Strathmore, AB. Two daughters, Janet, and Janice predeceased their parents, Janice in 1941, and Janet in 1976. Janet is buried in Ottawa. Bert and Gudrnn and Janice are buried in the Erickson Cemetery.

GUSTAFSON, JOHN AND LEONA Submitted by John and Leona

John Vernon Gustafson, son of the late Albin and Alma Gustafson, was born on October 5, 1931 at Mrs. Bisco's Nursing Home in Erickson with Dr. Rutledge attending.

John and Leona Bernice Hoefer were married September II, 1954, in the Knox United Church in McCreary, MB. Leona, the daughter of the late Leon and Annie Hoefer, was born April 12, 1934, at Carnduff, SK.

John has been co-owner otParkwood Auto Ltd. since June 12, 1968. On June 12, 1998, he retired from work but continues as co-owner. Since March of 1984, John and Leona have resided at Ditch Lake. They enjoy traveling with their motorhome, golfing, and the trips to Arizona and Texas. John's hobbies are building model airplanes and schooners, the last being the Bluenose Two. John and Leona have a son, Terence Rae. (See Gustafson, Terence and Deborah).
