The first Light Horse and Pony Club was organized in the early 60''s. The Provincial Archives informed us some years appear to be missing and the information supplied to us is as complete as their files are. They could not supply us with an enrollment form, so ifwe miss anyone please accept our apologies. From memory the members were: Richard Anderson, Herb Burridge, Connor Doak, Murray, Edwin, and Arnold May, Don MacDonald and Connie Peters. Regular meetings were held in the United Church basement. Our achievement was held at Carberry fair grounds with Wellwood also competing.

In 1973 the Brookdale 4-H Light Horse Club was re-organized with Connor Doak, Grace Jones and Harold McLeod as leaders. Members included were: Daryl Chute, Dwayne Chute, Debbie Evans, Linda Hart, Bruce Jones, Susan Jones, Kathy Jakubowski, Brenda Mack, Kim McDonald, Lori McDonald, and Donald Mitchell.

Basic horsemanship was taught, clinics were held on hoof care, how to tell the age by teeth and the judging of horses.

After the Brookdale Light Horse Club disbanded, those who were still interested joined the Neepawa 4-H Silver Spurs Horse Club and brought many ribbons, trophies and awards home to Brookdale.
