FERNE GRAHAM

The United Church manse in Brookdale became my home in the fall of 1978, when Ijoined the team of ministers serving Neepawa and Area Larger Parish.

Moving there after seven years in Toronto made the warm welcome a pleasant surprise! A sign on the well filled refrigerator expressed this welcome, and during my six years there I continued to find Brookdale an accepting and helpful community.

Besides the regular events such as confirmation classes, Vacation Church Schools and committee planning and involvement, other things stand out as highlights; a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the church with special services, the official opening of the Drop-In Centre and the privilege of representing the church at that event, preparation for and planning of special times in the church related to weddings, baptisms and confirmations; as well as other important seasons of the church year.

Also, the participation in community events, Remembrance Day services and concerts at the school, bonspiels, potluck suppers, u.c.W. rallies and special 4-H gatherings.

My time in Brookdale was a good time for me. I remember so many things which brought us close together - shared laughter and tears, joys and sorrows, hopes and fears of families and individuals, as we faced together the ups and downs life brings.
