Peter and Jean Adamchuk

In 1930, Pete’s parents Michael and Takiana (Skibinski) immigrated from Poland. They and their two sons Hans and Walter came to the Minitonas District looking for work and land to purchase. Shortly after, an accident claimed Walter’s life. A son, George was born in 1932. In 1934, Mike purchased the NW quarter of 14-37-25. Pete was born on this farm in 1935 and has lived there since. A daughter, Mary, was born in 1937 completing the family. Pete attended Grahamville School. He helped out on the farm and worked out in the winter months . He worked up north on the Laurie River Dam and on the D.E.W. line. He worked in the bush cutting pulp wood, spotting wood and hauling logs. He also dug wells from 1952-1966. In 1960, he took over the family farm.

In September 1960, Pete married Marion Jane (Jean) Campbell of the McKay District. I was born on the NW quarter of 20-38-25. My parents are Phyllis (Trueman) and Earl Campbell. My siblings are Kenneth, Lawrence, and Joyce.

Pete and I have two children. Lynne graduated 1979 from Swan Valley Regional Secondary School. She attended Olds College in the fashion merchandising course. She married Kevin Wenzel in October 1981. They farm and Lynne works part time at Swan Valley Coop. Their family are Jason, Candace, and Gerrad, all at home.
Michael graduated from Swan Valley Regional Secondary School in 1982. He worked at various jobs, bush work at Berens River, bridge of Dauphin by pass, oil rigs in Alberta until he purchased NE 27-37-25 where he and his family live.

He married Shannon (Boychuk) of Cowan in October 1991. They have two boys Steffan and Jordan Hans at home.

From humble beginnings, working with bare hands and an axe to clear the land, small horse drawn machinery, and then tractors which have become larger over the years, to a semi to haul grain, the changes in the last 60 years have been tremendous.
