Family Histories of the Swan River Valley Manitoba, Canada |
Pioneer Centennial History Book 100 Years in the Swan River Valley 1898 - 1998 |
Unonduer Brandson Mr. and Mrs. Unonduer Brandson came from Iceland with their sons and settled in Winnipeg, MB in the year of 1905. I was born there in 1907; Olie Brandson. In 1910 we moved to a homestead close to Arborg, MB. In fall of 1919 the two oldest brothers went to Swan River for harvest. They persuaded our father to sell in Arborg and buy land in the Big Woody District. That was done with a family of six sons and three daughters. We settled on a farm west of Swan River, MB. In the year of 1920 there was another son born. We went to the school of Big Woody. As we got older we bought more land on a larger scale. Of the ten members of the family there are only three left, Olie, Charles and Margaret. But the farming goes on with our grandsons bigger than ever bigger than ever in this wonderful Swan River Valley. Our parents moved to the town of Swan River. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. Mother passed away in 1962 and Father in 1964. Submitted by: Olie Brandson |
