currently a clinical facilitator for the University of Manitoba Bachelor of Nursing students. Henry continues to work at St. Boniface Hospital as a Nursing Assistant II. They have two children. Wendell Robert, born on May 28, 1967, is the General Manager of the Gillam Hotel at Gillam, MB. Warren William, born on April 29, 1968, is married to Kandi, and they have two children. Melissa Marie was born on January 27, 1994. Brock Bradley was born on October 15, 1996. Warren is a Service Specialist for Westbume Electric, and Kandi is a Care Specialist for S. R. and 1. They live in Winnipeg, MB.

Ellwood Paul was born on August 9, 1948, and is married to Marlene Brinkman. Ellwood is retired from a career in Probation and Parole for the Ontario Government. They live in Peterborough, ON. They have two children. Lisa Lynn was born on July 2, 1976, and is married to Jeremy Lethangue. They both work for the S.M.T. Centre in Markham where Jeremy is a Customs and Logistics Administrator and Lisa is a Receptionist. They live in Oshawa, ON. Timothy David was born on September 30, 1979. He is graduating from Trent University and is pursu­ ing Graduate Studies in History at McGill University in Montreal.

Robert Johnson died on October 12, 1962. Astrid continued as the Matron of Indian Residential Schools at Birtle, MB and Kenora, ON. In 1968, she married Maurice Godin. They lived for several years in Kenora, ON where Maurice worked as the Assistant to the Ontario Regional Consultant for Health and Welfare Canada. In 1989 they moved to Erickson, close to where Astrid grew up and raised her family. They currently enjoy their retirement in this setting.


Ron retired in December 1996. Joyce retired in 1989.

Ron and Joyce have four children:

Brent was born in 1957 in Erickson. He became a licensed welder and was employed in Edmonton until 1994. He moved to Brandon when diagnosed with MS and he currently resides in Fairview Home in Brandon.

Bryan was born in 1959. He married Jacquie Selbie.

They reside in Douglas and enjoy their family cabin at Otter Lake. Their children, Wayne and Crystal, graduated from Elton Collegiate in 1997 and 1998.

Barry was the New Year's baby in 1963 at the Minnedosa Hospital. Barry married Gayle Streeter of Neepawa in 1982. They have two children: Kenny, born in 1980, and Barry John (BJ), born in 1983. They currently reside in the North Cypress Municipality.

Blair was born in 1964 at Minnedosa. Blair married Darla Mills in 1999. Blair has two children from a previ-

ous marriage: Kane, born in 1987, and Bryce, born III 1990. Blair and Darla reside in Neepawa.

JOHNSON, ROY AND CHRISTINE Submitted by Jim Johnson and Lynne Watts

Roy Johnson (1903-1967), son of John (1871-1940) and Augusta (1885-1959) married Christine Oleniuk (1904- 1997) in 1942 in Elphinstone, MB.

Roy was the caretaker at the 'big' school for many years, and he was the local water and ice hauler for many residents of Erickson long before water works was installed. Roy was well known by residents of Erickson for his friendly manner and for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone.

Christine had a boarding house for many years. She was also a seamstress and she peddled her sewing machine to sew clothes for anyone who needed her services. Christine was a founding member of the st. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, a member of the st. Jude's Women's Group, and a life member of the Erickson Women's Institute. Christine lived in her own home until 1988. Then, she moved into the Erickson District Health Centre as one of the first residents.

Roy and Christine had two children. James Oscar, born on Febrnary 15, 1943, married Marilyn Erven on September 4, 1965, in Clanwilliam. They live in Sprnce Grove, AB. Jim and Marilyn have two children; Deborah and Allan. Deborah is a teacher in Hobbema, south of Edmonton. On July 24, 1999 Deborah married Arnold Kooteney. Deborah and Arnold and son, Garry, live in Leduc, AB. Allan is a First Officer Pilot with Royal Airlines, and he lives in Toronto, ON.
