On July 24, 1950, Olav married Lula Elizabeth Skoglund, daughter of Albert and Astrid Skoglund. Lula was born April 7, 1931, attended Lund and Erickson school and after completion of grade ten, she was em­ ployed by the Erickson Co-op Store.

Olav and Lula purchased N.E. 15-17-1SW from his father, where they resided until 1961 when they rented S.W. 33-17-1SW from L.B. Gusdal. They sold N.E. 15- 17-1SW, the homestead, to brother Emil. In 1959-64 was the formation of Silver Springs Ranch. Olav and Lula purchased 35-1S-1SW, N.W. 27-1S-ISW and several other quarters. The main ranch buildings were on N.W. 27 -IS-ISW. They had the registered brand "7S", raised beef and dairy cattle, also horses, mostly Arabians.

Olav was active in community affairs, The Farmers Union, Manitoba Dairy and Poultry, Pool Elevators and served as a Councillor for the Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam. The family were actively involved with the Skating Rink and Whirlpool Riders Saddle Club.

After the death of their son Allan, the Ranch was sold to the Harry Gibbon's family except S.E. 22-17-1SW and eighty acres of the Ranch which has a cottage on it.

In 1972, after the auction sale, the family moved to Maple Ridge, B.C., but return frequently to their cottage and visit with family and friends.

Olav and Lula were blessed with five children, all born at the Erickson and District Medical Nursing Unit with Dr. 's Morley and Nancy Sirett attending. They are:

Allan Albert, born July 20, 1953, attended Erickson Elementary and graduated from the Collegiate. He was active in sports, played hockey as a goalie during his school years, a Cub and Scout. In 1967 he along with the other members of the Erickson Scouts Pack and leader Algot Hall attended Birds Hill Camp. The boys worked at the Pan-American Games in Winnipeg. Allan was employed with the Pool Elevators, Erickson for a short time, and then moved to British Columbia, worked at Whonnock Lumber until his death on May 19, 1972 at IS years of age. He was buried at the Municipal cemetery,

Erickson. A Trophy in his memory is played for every year at the Erickson Hockey Tournament.

Karen Louise, born August 27, 1955, attended Erickson Elementary and Collegiate, graduated from Maple Ridge high school in 1973. She married Les Morrison and they have two children, Shanda and Eric. They live in Aldergrove, B.C., where Karen is employed by the Post Office.

Ryan Andrew Roy, born March 2S, 1960, attended Erickson Elementary and then to Whonnock and Garibaldi schools in British Columbia. He is currently living in Burnaby, B.C., employed at a sawmill and ambulance service of B.C. He enjoys canoeing, mountain climbing, skiing and photography.

Connie Christine "Twin ", born July 6, 1961, attended Erickson Elementary, Whonnock Blue Mountain, graduated from Garibaldi school. She is presently touring Europe.

Carol Elizabeth, "Twin" born July 6, 1961, attended Erickson Elementary, Whonnock, Blue Mountain, graduated from Garibaldi school. Her aim is a career with the R.C.M.P. and is working towards a Degree in Criminology. She is also working as a store detective.

SHELLHORN, GLEN AND ADA

Glen, son of Roy and Martha Shell born was born August 5, 1924 on N.E. 15-17-1SW with Dr. Rutledge in attendance. He attended school at Hilltop, Westmount, Erickson high school and Minnedosa Collegiate.

In November 1943, Glen enlisted in the Second World War, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, receiving his discharge in November, 1945.

On January 6, 1946, he was employed at the Erickson Consumers Co-op as Manager where he met Ada Nystrom, also employed at the Co-op. On November 9, 1947, Glen and Ada were married by Pastor Hanson at the Bethlehem Lutheran church. Ada was the daughter of Victor and Ellen Nystrom of Erickson, born June 22, 1929 at Erickson where she attended school and was a Girl Guide.

In August 1975, after 32 years, Glen resigned from the Erickson Co-op, and worked for a short time at Brandon and Sandy Lake Co-op.

In 1979, Glen and Ada started their own business "Shellborn Enterprises", which they presently operate. Glen served on the first Village council, a volunteer fireman, past Council member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church and Erickson Lutheran church, Credit Union Board, Erickson Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club Charter Member. He is presently serving on the Village Council. Ada is a member of the Lutheran Ladies' group and sang in the Choir.

Glen and Ada and family are members of the Erickson Lutheran Church. Their children are:

Larry Glen, born January 31, 1949 at Minnedosa Hospital. He was confirmed at the Erickson Lutheran Church. Larry received his education at the Erickson school except grade nine which he received at Vincent
