Pearl and Gib (Gabriel) Yakiwchuk,

carpenters for this project. Gibb and Pearl farmed for thirty-five years and raised eight children.

Danny Victor born July 21st, 1946, married Janice Danielson in October, 1970, and settled in the Pas Manitoba. They have three children Lee-Ann and twin~ Glori-Ann and Calvin. Danny was killed December 27, 1974. Janice now lives in Cranberry Portage with the children.

James William born September 16, 1947, married Pauline Layer in September, 1968, and settled in Kitimat,

B.C. They have one daughter, Michelle.

Lillian Jeanette born September 4, 1948, married Gerald Prosak in October, 1968, and settled in the Oak burn area. They have three children; Melanie, Denise and Ashley.

Fredrick Brian born May 27, 1950, married Diane Johnston in October, 1971, and settled in Winnipeg and Thompson. They have two children; Scott and Tim. They now live in Ft. McMurray, Alberta.

Gregory Paul born June 9, 1954, married Donna Wilks in August, 1976, and settled in Edmonton, Alberta. They have two children, Lee and Jamie. They now live in Lacombe, Alberta.

Kenneth Bruce born January 10, 1958. Kenny died August 16, 1975.

.Shirley Ann born September 10, 1959, living with MItchell Makwaychuk and have a daughter Araine. They are living in the Sandy Lake area.

Barry Grant born March 29, 1963. Barry is now at­ tending school at the Assiniboine College in Brandon.

The five older children attended Lund school, until in 1964, the school was closed. The children then all at­ tended school in Erickson. Gibb and Pearl bought a home and moved into the town of Erickson in November, 1979. After a lengthy illness, Gibb passed away October 8, 1982. Pearl is now living alone and is employed at the Erickson District Hospital as Cook.

YANCHYCKI, WALLY AND FRANCES

Raised on a farm ten miles northwest of Elphinstone Wally is the youngest of two sons of August and Len~ Yanchycki. He attended the Prince of Wales School, the Elphinstone High School, and then the Provincial

Normal School in Winnipeg where he received his teaching certificate in 1956. The first teaching position was at Lund School about ten miles east of Erickson. The following year he moved to his home area and taught there for seven years. On June 27, 1959, Wally married Frances, daughter of John and Lena Shindruk from Sandy Lake, at the Sacred Heart Church in Elphinstone. They moved to Erickson in August 1964, along with their two sons, Dennis - born in Hamiota on April 27, 1960 and Richard "Rick" - born in Hamiota on May 11,1963.'

The first year Wally was employed as vice-principal and teacher at the Erickson Consolidated School (later named Erickson Elementary School upon formation of the Rolling River School Division). The following year he was appointed principal, a position he's held to date. A third son, Darren, was born on December 1 1966 at the

Erickson Hospital. ' ,

In 1970, Wally completed his studies for a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in economics and shortly after graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in school administration. In 1974, Frances completed a hairdressing course at the Assiniboine Community College receiving a certificate in cosmetology. She is self­ employed in a shop in her own home. Throughout most of his teen and adult life Wally, in his spare time, has been involved in music, playing and recording with various bands - the latest group called the Serenaders. Previously, he played with the Sunset Valley Boys, the CKX Rhythm Ranch Boys, and Peter Lamb & the CKDM Sundown Pals. Wally has also been an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving in a leader-
