The August Erickson family. Ole, Ebba, Hilma, Ernest, Alex, Edith and August seated.

Alexander, twin born April 8, 1898. (refer to Erickson, Alex and Elvina).

Ernest, born January 24, 1900. (refer to Erickson, Ernest and Hilma).

John Albert was born in August 1902 and passed away April 21, 1904.

ERICKSON, OLAF AND EFFIE

Olaf "Ole", eldest son of August and Hilda Erickson was born April 1, 1890, baptized at Scandinavia in May, 1890. He worked on farms, at sawmills and the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway in the Rivers area. He joined the army in the First World War and while serving in France at Vimy Ridge he was wounded. Upon return to Canada, he spent some time at Deer Lodge Hospital, Winnipeg. Ole, along with other returned soldiers, was honoured by the Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam Council. He stayed at home for some time before moving to a quarter of land where the Whirlpool School was located and when land became available for purchase in the Onanole area, he purchased a homestead N.E. 6-19-18W with a Soldier's Grant in 1921. On October 31, 1928, he married Effie Svenson, continued farming and during the Second World War was a Home Guard at the German prison camp at White Water Lake, Riding Mountain National Park. In 1967, they retired to Onanole. They were active members in the Onanole curling club and the United Church. Ole was a member of the Clear Lake Legion. Effie is a Life member of the Onanole Women's Institute and United Church Women's Group.

Ole passed away August 24, 1975, and is buried at Danvers Cemetery. Effie resides at Crestview Place, Onanole.

Ole and Effie had two sons; Arden and Lloyd, born on the homestead N.E. 6-19-18W with Dr. Rutledge and Aunt Hilma Holmstrom as midwife. They attended Onanole school. The boys, dressed in white shirts and pants sang at the Clear Lake Jamboree hall.

Arden Ole born May 10, 1929. He worked for his Uncle Albin Gustafson at the Sawmill, gravelling and the Erickson Transfer. He worked at Shilo, returned home and purchased a truck to haul cordwood. On May 19, 1955, Arden married Jean Thorne of Elphinstone in the Strathclair Manse with Reverend Harland officiating. They moved to southern Saskatchewan working on road construction for six years and later in the Coal Mines. In 1966, they returned to his parents farm and in 1967, Arden was employed at Riding Mountain National Park where he is presently employed as Equipment Supervisor.

They have four children: Ardis Randeanna born September 27, 1955, at the Erickson Hospital with Drs. Sirett assisting. She received her education at Beinfait, Saskatchewan, Onanole, Erickson Collegiate and received a Commercial Arts Course at Assiniboine Community College, Brandon, Manitoba. Ardis married Calvin Sigurdson of Oak Lake on July 27, 1976. They have a daughter Amanda Brianna born April 6, 1983. The family reside at Oak Lake where Calvin is employed as Cabinet Maker with his father who at one time lived in the Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam. Arlene Jean born August 5, 1957, at Erickson Hospital, attended school at Beinfait, Saskatchewan, Onanole, Erickson Collegiate and Assiniboine Community College, Brandon receiving a Secretarial Course. She married Harold Minty, son of Vic and Joyce Minty, of Onanole district. They have a son Kelly Dale born July 6, 1978. The family reside in Dallas, Texas, where Harold operates a House Moving business. Brenda Sue born December 21, 1960, at Beinfait, Saskatchewan, attended school at Onanole and Erickson Collegiate. She married Vaughn Ullberg. (refer to Ullberg, Ernest and Yvonne). Craig Arden born January 5, 1969, born at Erickson Hospital, attended school at Onanole and is presently attending Erickson Collegiate.
